Dr Cindy Branch-Smith
Senior Lecturer and Course Coordinator for the Graduate Diploma and Graduate Diploma (Advanced) in Psychology programs
Dr Cindy Branch-Smith has a long career in the research, academia and government sectors. She completed her PhD at ECU which explored parental experiences of early surveillance for cystic fibrosis lung disease and how parents cope with regimen. She is now an Honorary Research Associate with the School and Community Wellbeing team at The Kids Research Institute Australia where her focus is mental health for children and young people living with cystic fibrosis in the school context.
Additionally, she has extensive experience in monitoring mental health services across Western Australia. Her recent work experience includes 5 years with the Office of the Chief Psychiatrist in the Western Australian Government, where she monitored and investigated standards of psychiatric care. Having earned her PhD in psychology, she possesses extensive knowledge and expertise in various areas of mental health. Throughout her academic journey, she developed a strong conviction that providing guidance and mentorship to aspiring psychologists is essential for nurturing the next generation of mental health professionals.
